Amy and Trae chose to ring in the new year and their new marriage on the same night at Edmonton's beloved Bell in Scona wedding venue and it was everything a NYE wedding should be. Warm, joyful, a little bit electric, and full of people who couldn't stop dancing.

Absolutely. NYE weddings have a built in festive energy that makes every guest feel like they're exactly where they should be. The main thing to plan around is that vendors book up very early for December 31st, so we recommend locking in your wedding photographer, venue, and caterer at least 12–14 months in advance. Edmonton winters are cold, so indoor venues with a great ambiance (like Bell in Scona) tend to work beautifully.

What is Bell in Scona like as a wedding venue in Edmonton?

Bell in Scona is a warm, industrial chic venue in Edmonton's Whyte Ave neighborhood. It features exposed brick, large windows, an in-house brewery and kitchen, a rooftop patio, and a bridal suite. The Bell Room holds up to around 160 guests. It's known for excellent food (cooked fresh on site), a full bar with beer on tap, and an atmosphere that photographs beautifully.

Do I need to worry about wedding photography lighting on New Year's Eve?

Not at all. Evening weddings are our specialty. For a December NYE wedding, we recommend scheduling couple portraits just before sunset (around 2:30–4:00pm in Edmonton) to capture the beautiful golden hour light, then heading inside for the warm amber glow of the reception. Bell in Scona's string lights and pendant fixtures create genuinely romantic natural lighting throughout the evening.
