Edmonton Hindu Indian Wedding Photographers | Bharatiya Cultural Society of Alberta, Edmonton | Sonam & Nimish

Sonam & Nimish’s Hindu Indian Wedding Day started early in the morning in South Edmonton at the Holiday Inn Hotels. They have been together since high school and their parents couldn’t attend because of travel restrictions because of the Pandemic. But they have wonderful friends who help the couple get ready for their big day. Both of them are so down to earth that it made it easy to be their Edmonton Hindu Indian Wedding Photographers. The ceremony was held at the Bharatiya Cultural Society of Alberta followed by a reception at the Evario Events Center

Both their families in India were dressed for the wedding and were watching the entire wedding together online. Even though both of them missed their family’s presence, they honoured and included them in the best way possible.

Sometimes family is not blood. Our friends and coworkers become family. Since they didn’t have family in Canada, every guest at the wedding was like family to them. It was an honour we got to be their wedding photographers.

Things to consider when planning a Hindu Indian Wedding in Edmonton

Here are some recommendations from our past couples who planned a Hindu wedding in Edmonton.

  1. The very first person you talk to is the Priest. Make sure the date is available.
  2. Decide how long of the ceremony you want. Some priests have gone over the scheduled time. This means you will have to pay extra for your vendors. Discuss with the priest and your vendors the expectations so you don’t have additional expenses.
  3. If you can eat before the ceremony, make sure you have something heavy. If you are fasting and can’t eat before the ceremony, pack a snack so you are not starving during your wedding day portraits
  4. If you are doing an outfit/make-up change, allocate more time than needed. Hair and make-up usually take 1.5 hours and outfit change takes around 30 mins.
  5. Allocate 30 minutes break before the reception. This will allow you to spend time with each other or relax before the reception. This also acts as a buffer in case you are running late.

We hope this helps in planning your dream wedding.
